How Plumstead Market Space works
Buy, sell and give away with your neighbours in Plumstead, and find local businesses. It works the same on this website and in the iPhone app, with one account for both.
1. Create a free account
Sign up with your email, a user name and your address and postcode, which fills in where buyers collect from. Listings on the board show just the area.
2. Sell something
- Go to Sell and take or upload a photo. The AI writes the title and description and suggests a price; change anything before it goes up.
- Every photo is checked automatically before it's shown, and anything unsuitable is refused.
- You can list 4 items every 7 days for free. For more, subscribe to Unlimited listings in the iPhone app.
- A listing stays up for 30 days. Edit it, change the photos, list it again or remove it from My items.
3. Buy something
- Browse For sale, search, or pick a category.
- Tap Make an offer and say what you'd pay. The seller is emailed straight away.
- See where your offers stand in My offers.
4. Agree, pay and collect
- The seller accepts the offer they like. You're both emailed, and anyone else who offered is told the item has gone.
- Arrange payment and collection between you. Plumstead Market Space doesn't take payment for items or charge any fee on a sale.
- When the item has been collected, the seller marks it Collected, which finishes the sale. If a buyer doesn't turn up, the seller can undo the sale and accept someone else.
5. Advertise a local business
- Trades, services and offers go in Classified Ads. Use Place a classified ad to write yours.
- Ads are paid for in the iPhone app (billed by Apple; the price is shown before you pay). The website tells you when an ad is waiting for payment.
- Once paid, we check every ad, usually within a day. When it's approved it runs for 14 days; if it isn't, the reason is shown in My ads, and you can edit it and send it again without paying twice.
- When an ad ends, renew it in the iPhone app to put it back on the board.
Staying safe
- Meet somewhere public or with someone else at home, and check the item before you pay.
- Never pay for an item you haven't seen, and don't share bank details or codes with anyone.
- Report an item, an ad or a person, or block them, from the app. See Support for how.
